Occurrence: Central America from Mexico to Colombia, sporadically also in the south of the USA (Florida) and Brazil. 

Knotless trunks over 5 m long and with a diameter of more than 30 cm are extremely rare. Ziricote is the heaviest wood of the group of over 250 different Cordia species. Uses: Woodturning, carving, as veneer exclusively for interior decoration or inlays. Character: Zirikote is a very distinctive wood. The sapwood is yellowish white, while the heartwood is dark brown with irregular deep black zones. Very decorative when processed together with the lighter sapwood. This is often used as a contrasting effect. Special features: Due to the lively structure, elongated to cloud-like shapes appear that are clearly reminiscent of Rio rosewood
