Cocobolo. Beautiful veneer for a humidor for the best cigar storage
Trade names: Cocobolo, Granadillo Country of origin: Central America, South America Occurrence: Central and northern South America, especially along the west coast of Nicaragua, but also in Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama.


Uses: As veneers in interior finishing or for inlays, handles of all kinds, parts of woodwind instruments.
Character: The heartwood is reddish to dark brown with black veins running through it. Due to a high oil content, the surface appears dense and waxy shiny. Pronounced luxury wood.
Characteristics: Granadillo is a small tree, about 25 – 30 cm in diameter. The sapwood and heartwood are sharply separated. The sapwood is light yellow, the kenwood is rich red and irregularly interspersed with black or brown veins, which makes this wood one of the most decorative woods. The availability is very limited and due to the great density and rotational growth, the processing is very demanding.
