Occurrence: Restricted to Argentina and Brazil, especially in the Amazon basin. The normal trunk wood is unknown in Europe, the pyramid is imported in small quantities.
Uses: Interior finishing, more popular in the USA than in Europe.
Character: The color of the wood ranges from grayish-white to yellowish-brown tones. The alternate-grained wood has with distinct pores in the form of pyramid-like structures.
Special features: Nature’s true artistry is evident on veneers made from knot forks or twigs. This is also the case on those obtained from the South American hardwood Cerejeira. Here, the beauty of the often alternating-rotation wood with distinct pores reveals itself in the form of excitingly lively, pyramid-like structures, which unfold a veritable firework of light and dark contrasts and lend the grayish-white to yellowish-brown wood an exquisite touch.
