Country of origin: China, Vietnam, Japan
Occurrence: Distribution between the 10th and 30th northern latitude in China in evergreen subtropical deciduous forest. Likewise one finds camphor frequently in Taiwan.further occurrences in Vietnam, Korea and Japan. Mostly camphor settles at altitudes between 500 and 600 meters. The height of camphor trees can be up to 30 meters. In extreme cases they can have a diameter of 3m. However, burl formation is relatively rare.

Uses: As camphor burl veneer in decorative interior finishes, project buildings and high-end furniture. With the exception of Asia, it is still a very unknown wood in the rest of the world, but has the potential to compete with other burls in terms of availability and beauty. Character: In Asia, camphor wood is considered a superior material for boat and ship building because of its resistance to fungi and insects. Camphor oil and other essential substances, which serve as basic substances in perfume production, are extracted from all parts of the plant. Also use for medicinal purposes. The leaves of the camphor tree are eaten by the camphor silkworm, whose cocoons provide natural silk for fishing line and surgical thread. Special Features: The deep dark red, vividly grained wood makes beautiful pictures when put together in cross joints. Very intense odor of camphor, which remains even after veneer production.
